About Me: Art by Bev Yankwitt
I am a non-objective abstract painter, meaning that there is nothing realistic in my work. I don't refer to a reference photo nor do I have a plan in mind when I start to paint. I like to be surprised by what happens on the paper as I proceed. I work in acrylic paints sometimes adding hand painted collage papers, stencils or stamps. I've been painting abstracts for several years and it never gets boring. I'm mostly self-taught but I have taken classes locally as well as a few workshops in-person and online. I teach abstract art at a local art center which I enjoy. It has expanded my knowledge of art in ways I would not have imagined.
I am a signature member of several water-media societies including National Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society and Florida Watercolor Society. I have received many awards locally and nationally for my work.
